IT EXPLORES HOW MEMORIES CAN BE HAUNTING AND HOW OPENING THE PAST CAN LEAD TO UNEXPECTED CONSEQUENCES.  WHILE WRITING THE SYNOPSIS AND LOGLINE , I AIMED TO CAPTURE THE SUSPENSE AND EMOTIONAL DEPTH OF THE STORY IN A SHORT AND ENGAGING WAY.  LIGHTING PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN VISIUAL STORYTELLING.                                                              THREE MAIN TYPES OF LIGHTING TECHNIQUES USED IN FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY: HIGH KEY LIGHTING:  IT USES BRIGHT , EVEN LIGHT WITH MINIMAL SHADOWS. IT CREATES A SOFT , CLEAN LOOK. OFTEN USED COMEDY , ADVERTISEMENTS. LOW KEY LIGHTING:  IT FOCUSES ON CREATING STRONG CONTRAST AND DEEP SHADOWS , USING MINIMAL LIGHT SOURCES. OFTEN USED IN THRILLERS , HORROR , OR CREATE TENSION. THREE-POINT LIGHTING:  IT INVOLVES KEY LIGHT , FILL LIGHT AND A BACK LIGHT TO MAKE SCENES LOOK MORE DYNAMIC AND VISUALLY APPEALING.

1.MEMORY AND THE PAST: THE KNOCKING SOUND REPRESENTS MEMORIES THAT WON'T FADE. EVEN WHEN WE TRY TO FORGET , THE PAST FINDS A WAY TO RETURN. IN THE FILM , EVERY KNOCK PULLS THE MAIN CHARACTER DEEPER INTO HER OWN MEMORIES.THE FLASHBACK SCENES AND SOUND DESIGN SHOW HOW THE PAST AND PRESENT COLLIDE - VISUALLY AND EMOTIONALLY. 2.GUILT AND REGRET: THE REAL FEAR IN THE FILM DOES'NT COME FROM A GHOST - IT COMES FROM GUILT. THE GIRL FEELS HAUNTED BY SOMETHING SHE ONCE DID OR COULD'NT STOP. AS THE KNOCKING CONTINUES SHE'S FORCED TO FACE WHAT SHE'S BEEN AVOIDING. 3.FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN: SUSPENSE COMES FROM WHAT WE CAN'T SEE. THE DARK HALLWAY AND THE CLOSED DOOR CREATE MYSTERY AND TENSION. THE KNOCKING SOUND BECOMES A SYMBOL OF THE UNKNOWN , SOMETHING OUT OF REACH. 4.FACING THE INNER SELF: WHEN THE GIRL OPENS THE DOOR , SHE ISN'T JUST FACING A MEMORY - SHE IS FACING HERSELF. THIS MOMENT REPRESENTS SELF-CONFRONTATION , ONE OF THE STRONGEST IDEAS IN PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLERS...

THE ONLY SOUND IS HER FOOTSTEPS. SUDDENLY , A FAINT KNOCK COMES FROM ONE OF THE ROOMS.  SHE HESITATES - ANOTHER KNOCK. WHEN SHE OPENES THE DOOR , THE ROOM IS EMPTY....BUT MEMORIES START FLASHING. SHE SEES HERSELF AS A CHILD , A PAST MOMENT SHE'S BEEN HIDING FROM. THE KNOCKING CONTINUES - NOW INSIDE HER HEAD. SHE REALISES THE SOUND ISN'T FROM THE DOOR NOW IT'S FROM HER OWN MIND.THE FILM ENDS AS SHE FREEZES , SURROUNDED BY ECHOES OF HER PAST.  IN THIS EXERCISE , I EXPLORED THE 180-DEGREE RULE  , ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES IN FILM CONTINUITY . IT IS A BASIC GUIDELINE IN FLIMMAKING THAT KEEPS THE CAMERA ON ONE SIDE OF AN IMAGINARY LINE DRAWN BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS OR POINTS OF FOCUS. THIS LINE IS CALLED THE AXIS OF ACTION. BY STAYING ON ONE SIDE OF THE AXIS , THE AUDIENCE CAN EASILY FOLLOW WHERE EACH CHARACTER IS POSITIONED AND WHO THEY ARE LOOKING AT. IF THE CAMERA CROSSES THIS LINE , IT B REAKS THE RULE-- MAKING IT SEEM LIKE THE CHARACTERS HAVE SWAPPED PLACES OR ARE LOOKING IN WRONG DIRECTION , WHICH CAN CONFUSE THE VIEWER.

IN MY MEDIA PROJECT , IM FOCUSING ON THE CONCEPT OF ' mise-en-scene' THE VISUAL ARRANGEMENT OF EVERYTHING THAT APPEARS IN A FRAME. SINCE MY CHOSEN GENRE IS PSYCHOLOGICAL SUSPENSE  , I WANT TO USE mise-en-scene TO CREATE MYSTERY , TENSION , EMOTIONAL DEPTH THROUGHOUT MY SHORT FILM.  WHAT IS Mise-en-scene? IT MEANS "PUTTING ON STAGE"  . IN FILM TERMS IT INCLUDES EVERY VISUAL ELEMENT THAT HELPS TELL THE STORY. ITS HOW THE STORY'S ATMOSPHERE AND MEANING ARE BUILT VISUALLY RATHER THAN THROUGH DIALOGUE. 🠞MY GOAL IS TO MAKE THE mise-en-scene REFLECT THE CHARACTER'S MINDS- DARK , TENSE AND UNPREDICTABLE. BLACK  AND  WHITE  PHOTOGRAPHY HAS A TIMELESS CHARM. EVEN WITHOUT COLOUR, IT CAN SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. BY REMOVING THE DISTRACTION OF COLOUR, IT ALLOWS US TO FOCUS ON EMOTION , TEXTURE, LIGHT  AND CONTRAST  - THE TRUE ESSENCE OF AN IMAGE. WHY BLACK AND WHITE WORKS  1. EMOTIONAL IMPACT : THE ABSENCE OF COLOUR DRAWS ATTENTION TO FACIAL EXPRESSIONS , MOOD AND ATMOSPHERE. 2. FOCUS ON LIGHT AND SHADOW: THE CONTRAST BETWEEN LIGHT AND DARKNESS ADDS DEPTH AND DRAMA TO A SCENE. 3.
